Isn’t it time the All Blacks got professional help??

Don’t the All Blacks want to benefit from increased recovery times and higher performance??  Isn’t it time New Zealand caught up with the rest of the world??   On travelling to Australia last year coincidentally with the All Blacks the Australian customs agents asked if I was the team chiropractor.   I laughed in reply and informed them that New Zealand is behind the rest of the world when it comes to sports performance and chiropractic.   Thankfully we now have a chiropractor who travels with our Olympic team so we are catching on slowly.

It’s 2011 and having rugby players benched for back problems, hamstring strains, hip injuries and associated abdominal problems isn’t very “professional”.   Has anyone stopped to think where these nerves go??  How about enlisting a professional to enhance the nervous system of our elite rugby players.  Injury prevention is possible with a balanced spine and nervous system and therefore balanced muscles that don’t have to overstretch or underfunction just to maintain posture.   A fully functioning nervous system helps the brain talk to the body faster and can speed up the healing process.   I’ve worked with professional football players for France, Brazil and Portugal and they have thanked me afterwards for their bodies working better despite old ankle injuries and having more go following pre-game network adjustments.

Chiropractic isn’t the same as physiotherapy and physiotherapy isn’t the same as chiropractic. Chiros and physios have different skillsets, different goals and outcome measures. Although a lot of individual players  see chiropractors at their own expense or on ACC my hope is that come 2015 the All Blacks will have their own team chiropractor!!

Chiropractic Mission Trip to Rarotonga

For the past three years I have given my time and expertise in supervising students at the New Zealand College of Chiropractic in service for the people of Rarotonga.  We go up there for a week every year over their constitution week and offer free care.  This way we have a greater likelihood of also helping people from the outer cook islands who come to Rarotonga for their constitution week celebrations.

We are there as guests of the prime minister and the ministry of health.  It is an amazing week and many miracles occuring from the chiropractic adjustments delivered by the interns.  People of all ages line up to be adjusted from  mothers carrying their babies in to the elderly with their walking sticks.  Some come in everyday whilst we are there to get as much benefit as possible.  During this week patients report back with changes in their pain levels, increased mobility, improvements in their blood pressure, sleeping better and the list goes on.

It is an amazing opportunity for the people of the cook islands and our interns.  It makes me aware of the health care options we take for granted and have available to us in New Zealand.  As a New Zealander it also made me proud to see the contribution we can make to our neighbours who ordinarily do not have access to the many benefits of chiropractic adjustments.

Free week of Chiropractic care for people in Rarotonga from 1 August 2011

Where is Chiropractor Dr Bronia Tindall this week?  Dr Bronia Tindall has gone  on a mission trip to Rarotonga with the NZ College of Chiropractic!  1 August 2011 starts a week of free Chiropractic care for the Cook Islanders and any tourists and visitors in Rarotonga.   This is Dr Bronia Tindall’s, ( from Chiropractic Boutique in Parnell, Auckland, New Zealand), third yearly visit supervising with the students from NZCC and giving free chiropractic assesments,  care and spinal adjustments.   She loves the Cook Island people and is looking forward to seeing their smiling faces again!  There hasn’t been a permanent Chiropractor based in Rarotonga so the people there really value and appreciate this opportunity to experience the benefits of chiropractic care.  We will be seeing all ages at all life stages!  Pregnant women, babies, children, teenagers, seniors, sports people – we all have a spine and we all have a nervous system so we all can benefit from spinal adjustments to enable us to be the best we can be!
